The Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMD) Unit operates under IOM’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP), based in Bangkok. It serves as a hub for policy and operational support in ethical recruitment, migrant worker protection, skills-based mobility, integration, diaspora engagement, and promoting social cohesion in migrant-receiving communities.

Tasks

As an LMD Intern, you will be mentored by the Regional LMD Officer and supervised by the Senior Regional LMD Specialist at IOM’s Bangkok office. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing, developing, and disseminating knowledge products such as weekly news digests, issue briefs, and monthly work updates.
  • Assisting in updating LMD-related content on the ROAP website and preparing social media content, in coordination with the Media and Communications Unit.
  • Supporting the design and delivery of capacity-building initiatives for LMD focal points, including thematic webinars and regional trainings.
  • Reviewing and editing technical documents related to labour mobility and social inclusion.
  • Preparing presentations, talking points, and other relevant communications materials.
  • Attending internal and external meetings, taking minutes, and producing meeting reports.
  • Providing logistical and administrative assistance for events, workshops, and project activities.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • A recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited academic institution in Political or Social Sciences, Law, International Development, Public Administration, Business Administration, or other related fields.

Experience

  • Less than two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in international migration, social inclusion, and human rights.
  • Previous work or volunteer experience with NGOs, international organizations, or government institutions is desirable.
  • Experience with content creation, event coordination, or research will be considered an asset.

Additional Information

Language Proficiency

  • Fluency in English is required. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are essential.

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with standard Microsoft Office tools and internet applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a digital, remote-working environment.

Eligibility Criteria

Compensation and Insurance

  • A small monthly stipend is provided based on location and experience.
  • IOM provides occupational accident and illness insurance.
  • Interns must arrange and provide proof of private health insurance.
