The Yale Journal of International Affairs (YJIA) has opened its Fall 2026 call for submissions. The graduate student-run publication welcomes original work exploring international affairs and policy issues.

Submission Categories
Applicants may submit work in these categories:
- Articles: 2,000–3,500 words, including a clear argument and actionable policy recommendations.
- Op-eds: Usually 600–850 words on a contemporary international issue.
- Book reviews: Up to 1,500 words, reviewing eligible recently published books.
- Photo essays: Up to 25 original photographs, each captioned, with an introduction of no more than 500 words.
Requirements
Submissions must include a title of no more than 10 words, a short subtitle and an author biography of three sentences or fewer. Authors must disclose institutional affiliations.
Documents must be submitted in DOCX format, not PDF, follow the 17th edition of The Chicago Manual of Style, and use endnotes for citations. Work must be original and exclusive to YJIA, subject to the journal’s stated exception for time-sensitive articles.
