Background & Job Description

Unitaid, a global health initiative hosted by WHO, is dedicated to accelerating access to innovative health solutions in low- and middle-income countries. As part of its 2023–2027 strategy, Unitaid aims to minimize the climate footprint of health products while enhancing global supply chain resilience.

The Consultant – Climate and Health Investment Initiative will play a key role in launching and operationalizing climate-smart health investments, ensuring alignment with Unitaid’s strategic priorities. This role involves providing technical expertise, conducting in-depth research, and supporting investment proposal development to secure funding and drive sustainability-focused solutions. The consultant will collaborate with the Sustainability Manager and Climate & Health Team to identify high-impact investment opportunities.

Tasks

  • Investment Launch & Management: Support the development and execution of climate and health investment strategies aligned with Unitaid’s 2025 goals.
  • Research & Market Analysis: Conduct technical reviews, market assessments, and technology landscape evaluations to identify potential investment opportunities in climate-smart health solutions.
  • Investment Proposal Development: Provide expert guidance in structuring investment cases, drafting proposals, and ensuring adherence to climate science and sustainability best practices.
  • Strategic Guidance & Impact Assessment: Offer insights into decarbonization initiatives, sustainable product manufacturing, and supply chain optimization.
  • Collaboration & Resource Mobilization: Work closely with Unitaid’s stakeholders, funding organizations, and partners to strengthen climate-health investment strategies.

Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • Essential: Advanced degree in sustainability, environmental science, business administration, engineering, or a related field.
  • Desirable: Certification in environmental sustainability, climate change mitigation, or sustainable supply chains.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience spanning public, private, or development sectors.
  • Proven track record in environmental sustainability, climate-smart investments, and decarbonization initiatives.
  • Expertise in market research, investment case development, and global health solutions.
  • Experience in climate and health risk assessments, ESG frameworks, and sustainable product innovation.
  • Prior experience working with global health organizations, supply chains, or climate financing initiatives is highly preferred.
