The organization’s Ethiopia office is currently seeking a qualified Influencing and Advocacy Manager to join its national team in Addis Ababa. This strategic role falls under the Influencing, Advocacy, and Communications Department and reports directly to the Head of the Unit.

Tasks
As the Influencing and Advocacy Manager, your main responsibilities will include:

Strategic Planning & Development

Develop and implement the organization’s advocacy and influencing strategy in line with national, regional, and global priorities.

Conduct regular political economy analyses to identify entry points for policy change.

Policy Engagement & Partnerships

Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, international bodies, donors, NGOs, and media outlets.

Represent Plan International at policy dialogues, conferences, and roundtables.

Evidence-Based Advocacy

Coordinate the production of policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy toolkits grounded in field evidence and global standards.

Liaise with research teams and program officers to ensure advocacy strategies reflect grassroots realities.

Campaign Leadership

Lead national campaigns focusing on child rights, gender equality, early childhood education, youth empowerment, and emergency responses.

Align local campaigns with global movements like Girls Get Equal, Plan International’s flagship campaign.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)

Track the progress and impact of advocacy interventions.

Use data-driven insights to adjust strategies and report on outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.

Team & Capacity Development

Mentor junior staff and partners in advocacy techniques, political engagement, and rights-based approaches.

Facilitate training on GEI (Gender Equality and Inclusion), safeguarding, and Plan’s Code of Conduct.

Qualifications
Education and Certification

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:

Advanced training in advocacy, human rights, or public policy is highly desirable.
Experience

A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in:

Demonstrated track record in:

Developing successful policy advocacy campaigns

Managing strategic partnerships with government and civil society

Previous experience in emergency or conflict-affected contexts is an added advantage.

Supervisory Relationship
