Job Overview

The Research Consultant position will support the foundation’s Sexual & Reproductive Health division, primarily focusing on family planning, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV, and menstrual health. As a Senior Research Scientist, you’ll be responsible for conducting complex modeling, engaging in research, and presenting findings to key stakeholders, including executive leadership, program staff, grantees, and government officials.

Key Responsibilities

Lead quantitative research in sexual and reproductive health, specifically in areas such as family planning, STIs, HIV, and menstrual health.
Conduct statistical and dynamical modeling, including agent-based modeling.
Present complex technical results to diverse stakeholders, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
Contribute to global health initiatives that address equity in health across various regions.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and implement research programs that inform policy and practice.

Required Qualifications

Education: PhD or equivalent in biostatistics, public health, demography, or a related quantitative field.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in research related to sexual and reproductive health.
Skills:
- Extensive background in statistical modeling and dynamical systems (agent-based modeling is highly desirable).
- Subject matter expertise in sexual and reproductive health, including family planning and/or sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
- Ability to communicate technical results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for the Research Consultant role is $186,400 to $288,800 USD. In regions like Seattle and Washington D.C., where the Gates Foundation offices are located, the salary range is adjusted to $203,100 to $314,900 USD.
