Tasks

As a Programme Associate (Data Analyst/Economist), the candidate will support WFP’s RAM team with a range of analytical and data management tasks. Specific responsibilities include:

• Designing and preparing market assessments and price data collection tools in compliance with WFP standards.
• Coordinating and supporting field data collection related to market prices and economic conditions.
• Conducting rigorous analysis of price data, inflation trends, exchange rates, and food security dynamics.
• Managing the upload and organization of food price data on WFP’s internal platforms and price databases.
• Participating in market functionality assessments across various Ukrainian regions and producing insightful assessment reports.
• Preparing briefs and presentations on food prices, macroeconomic developments, agricultural trends, and market conditions.
• Supporting the training of enumerators and data collectors, including the development of training materials.
• Contributing to other RAM activities involving data collection, economic evaluation, and reporting as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

To be eligible for the role of Programme Associate (Data Analyst/Economist), candidates must meet the following educational requirements:

• Completion of secondary school education is mandatory.
• Additional coursework or training in any of the following fields is a strong advantage:
  • Statistics
  • Econometrics
  • Data Visualization
  • Database Management
  • Food Security Analysis
  • Household Economics

Higher education can compensate for a portion of the required work experience, as detailed below.

Experience

Applicants must possess a minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience. However, post-secondary qualifications can substitute for part of this experience:

• With a Master’s degree, a minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience is acceptable.
• With a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of four (4) years of experience is acceptable.

Specific experience in at least one or more of the following areas is required:

• Data management and cleaning
• Market price analysis and time-series data interpretation
• Dashboard development and data visualization (e.g., Tableau)
• Macroeconomic and food security analysis
• Field data collection, including survey building and enumerator training
• Quantitative evaluation techniques

Knowledge & Skills

The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following competencies:

• Proficiency in Excel and one of the following: R, STATA, or SPSS (preference given to R)
• Experience with XLS-form programming is considered an asset
• Strong visualization skills using tools such as Tableau
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical acumen
• A problem-solving mindset and creativity in data interpretation
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multicultural team
• Comfortable engaging with stakeholders from different national and cultural backgrounds
• Willingness to participate in field missions across Ukraine

Languages

• Fluency in both English and Ukrainian (oral and written) is essential.
• Working knowledge (Level B) of another United Nations language is considered a plus.
