Background & Job Description
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global leader in development solutions, and it is currently hiring a Project Coordinator to join its Governance Unit. This recruitment is being carried out under a National Personnel Service Agreement (NPSA-9), and the selected candidate will play a central role in coordinating governance-focused initiatives aligned with the Country Programme Document (CPD) 2022–2026.
The Governance Unit focuses on strengthening inclusive public institutions, promoting accountability, supporting access to justice, and aligning public services with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As part of this effort, the Project Coordinator will support key project implementation and act as the Disability Inclusion Focal Point, a strategic role aligned with the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy.

Tasks
Project Coordination and Implementation
- Lead the design, planning, and implementation of the Governance Unit’s LEAP Project and other related initiatives.
- Align project activities with UNDP’s corporate procedures such as POPP (Project Operations Procedures) and PPM (Programme and Project Management) frameworks.
- Develop costed work plans and ensure timely delivery and quality assurance.
- Manage financial, technical, and human resources effectively.
- Coordinate across various program units to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Support procurement and financial oversight in accordance with UNDP standards.
Partnership Development and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain working relationships with government agencies, civil society organizations, donors, and private sector partners.
- Develop communication platforms for promoting stakeholder participation and enhancing transparency.
- Maintain and regularly update a stakeholder mapping strategy.
- Contribute to resource mobilization efforts by supporting proposal writing and joint programming initiatives.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Design and implement systems to monitor and evaluate project performance.
- Conduct field visits and on-site assessments to track project implementation.
- Prepare high-quality reports for internal and external stakeholders including donors and government officials.
- Coordinate closely with finance and operations staff to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with budget execution.
Capacity Building and Knowledge Sharing
- Organize training workshops and other capacity-building events for government and community stakeholders.
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing platforms and UNDP’s internal and external communities of practice.
- Capture lessons learned, case studies, and best practices to inform future program planning and scaling.
- Support advocacy campaigns aligned with governance and inclusion priorities.
Disability Inclusion Leadership
- Act as the UNDP Disability Inclusion Focal Point, ensuring compliance with global and internal guidelines.
- Lead the Disability Inclusion Working Group across UN agencies.
- Conduct assessments and recommend measures for accessibility and inclusion.
- Foster cross-agency collaboration on disability inclusion and mainstreaming.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
- A Master’s degree in Governance, Social Protection, Development Studies, Public Administration, or related fields is required.
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years of relevant experience may be considered in place of an advanced degree.
Experience
- A minimum of two years (with a Master’s degree) or four years (with a Bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience in project coordination, public sector reform, monitoring & evaluation, or governance-related programming.
- Demonstrated experience with disability inclusion or disability mainstreaming in development projects is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with digital tools for governance or public service delivery is considered an added advantage.
- Proven track record working with government partners, international organizations, or UN agencies is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural teams.
