In collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) Academy, UNITAR is contributing to the WHO Academy Course Mobilization Programme (WHOA: MCC), which focuses on migrating and co-producing online courses. As part of this effort, the selected trainee will design multimedia assets for over 150 courses on the Academy’s Learning Experience Platform (LXP), ensuring visually compelling and informative learning experiences for global health professionals.
The Graphic Designer Trainee will work under the supervision of the UNITAR Project Manager and collaborate with instructional designers to produce engaging graphics and multimedia elements that align with WHO’s branding and educational standards.
Tasks
As a Graphic Designer Trainee, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with the UNITAR Project Manager and instructional designers to create high-quality graphics for online courses.
- Designing course banners, icons, infographics, and multimedia elements that align with WHO Academy’s branding guidelines.
- Assisting in the migration of existing course materials while maintaining design consistency and quality.
- Supporting the instructional design team by uploading multimedia assets to platforms such as Vimeo for seamless integration into courses.
- Providing creative input during brainstorming sessions and design reviews.
- Ensuring all graphic content meets accessibility standards for digital learning environments.
- Managing multiple design projects simultaneously and meeting strict deadlines.
- Organizing files and documenting design processes for future reference.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
- A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Multimedia Design, or a related field.
- A strong portfolio showcasing digital graphics, multimedia content, and visual storytelling expertise.
Experience
- Prior experience in graphic design projects, preferably related to online learning or digital health.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Experience with video and audio editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- Knowledge of digital content creation, animation, and multimedia production.
- Understanding of typography, color theory, and layout techniques for effective visual communication.
- Basic knowledge of HTML, web design, and animation techniques is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across various time zones.
- Ability to work effectively within branding guidelines and maintain visual consistency.
