Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is Yale University’s flagship academic enrichment programme for exceptional high school students from around the world. Participants engage in interdisciplinary learning, collaborate with peers from diverse backgrounds, and experience university-level academics while building leadership, critical thinking, and global perspectives.

The Young Leaders Scholarship supports students in the United States and internationally who self-identify as at least one of the following:
- Black or African American (including Africa and the Caribbean)

- Refugees

Eligibility
To be considered for any Yale scholarship, applicants must:
- Complete the entire YYGS online application
- Complete the Need-Based Financial Aid section
- Submit all required application materials by the scholarship deadline
- Meet the eligibility requirements for the specific scholarship category
Applicants do not submit separate scholarship applications. Yale automatically reviews eligible financial aid applicants for available scholarships.
Selection Process
As part of the financial aid review, the YYGS admissions team automatically determines whether applicants qualify for one or more scholarship categories.
Successful applicants are notified when admissions and financial aid decisions are released.
