The Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) has launched its 9th Call for Proposals for Country-led Projects, providing approximately US$163 million in grant financing to support investments that strengthen food security, improve agricultural productivity, build climate resilience, and enhance livelihoods for smallholder farmers in eligible low-income countries.
About the Call
The Ninth Call comes at a critical time as countries continue to face challenges caused by climate change, conflict, economic instability, and rising food and fertilizer prices. Through this funding round, GAFSP aims to finance 6 to 10 high-impact projects that strengthen agriculture and food systems while supporting long-term resilience and sustainable development.
Funding Available

Who Can Apply?
Applications must be submitted by:
- National governments of eligible low-income countries
- In partnership with an approved GAFSP Supervising Entity
Governments are expected to prepare proposals in consultation with:
- Smallholder farmers
- Producer organizations
- Women’s groups
- Civil society organizations
- Private sector partners
- Development partners
Eligible Supervising Entities
Governments may partner with one or more of the following:
- African Development Bank (AfDB)
- Asian Development Bank (ADB)
- International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)
- Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
- World Bank
For technical assistance activities, countries may also work with:
- Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)
- World Food Programme (WFP)

Priority will be given to proposals that demonstrate:

- Co-financing commitments

Co-financing Requirement
Co-financing is mandatory.
Applicants must provide evidence of either:
- Secured co-financing through signed agreements or official funding documents, or
- Expected co-financing supported by letters of intent or government communications.
Both cash and in-kind contributions are accepted. Additional scoring is awarded for higher levels of co-financing, particularly where contributions come from governments or the private sector and equal at least 50% of the requested GAFSP grant.
