CESVI Foundation is inviting applications for the Protection Specialist position, offering the flexibility to work fully remotely or from its headquarters in Bergamo, Italy. This international humanitarian role supports protection programmes across Sudan, Myanmar, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe, providing technical leadership, quality assurance, and capacity building for country teams working with vulnerable populations.

The Protection Specialist will report directly to the Global Protection Advisor and will contribute to strengthening integrated protection programming across multiple humanitarian contexts.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Support the design and implementation of General Protection, Child Protection, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) programmes.
  • Strengthen case management systems while ensuring confidentiality, ethical standards, and compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Develop and adapt protection guidelines, tools, and SOPs.
  • Improve Cash for Protection processes, including eligibility, documentation, and risk management.
  • Deliver training, coaching, and mentoring to country teams and local partners.
  • Conduct protection needs assessments and risk analyses.
  • Promote protection mainstreaming across Health, WASH, Shelter, Livelihoods, and Climate Change programmes.
  • Coordinate with protection teams, information management specialists, and humanitarian coordination groups.
  • Support proposal development, monitoring systems, donor reporting, dashboards, and thematic reports.
  • Ensure compliance with CESVI safeguarding, Child Protection, GBV, and PSEAH policies.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, International Development, Gender Studies, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the protection sector.
  • At least 3 years of experience with international NGOs or United Nations agencies in humanitarian or displacement settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in GBV, Child Protection, or humanitarian case management.
  • Experience working with humanitarian coordination mechanisms and national authorities.
  • Experience delivering capacity-building activities and professional training.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in complex humanitarian environments.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Experience working in emergency response settings.
  • Knowledge of additional United Nations official languages.
