About the WTO Young Professionals Programme

Launched in 2016, the WTO Young Professionals Programme helps build the next generation of international trade experts by giving early-career professionals practical exposure to the work of the World Trade Organization.

Participants are assigned to various divisions within the WTO Secretariat based on organizational priorities and their academic background and professional interests.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a national of a WTO member country.
  • Hold an advanced university degree in law, economics, or another international trade-related discipline relevant to WTO work.
  • Have at least two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in international trade and commitment to WTO-related work.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • Knowledge of French or Spanish is considered an advantage.
  • Be 32 years of age or younger at the expected programme start date.

Preference is given to candidates from WTO members that are underrepresented at the professional level within the WTO Secretariat.
