UNOPS is recruiting for a position supporting infrastructure projects across West Africa and the Sahel. The role is based in Conakry, Cotonou, Lomé, N’Djamena, Niamey, or Ouagadougou and is classified at the mid-level, ICS 10.
The position involves managing infrastructure projects across areas such as education, health, transportation, irrigation, and renewable energy, while coordinating with donors, partners, and beneficiaries.
What the Project Manager Will Do
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and updating project implementation plans
- Managing project milestones, deliverables and resources
- Coordinating infrastructure designs and design reviews
- Monitoring project costs, schedules, quality and risks
- Managing external suppliers and work packages
- Preparing project and financial reports
- Developing stakeholder engagement and communication plans
- Supporting quality assurance and audits
- Managing project teams and performance
- Promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
The assignment also requires regular field missions.
Who Can Apply
This is an experienced professional opportunity rather than a conventional graduate-entry role.
Applicants need either:
- A Bachelor’s degree in civil, water, electrical, mechanical, structural, or another applicable engineering discipline plus 7 years of relevant experience, or
- A Master’s degree in one of these disciplines plus 5 years of relevant experience.
A project management certification such as PRINCE2, PMI, PEng or CEng is desirable.
Relevant experience includes managing infrastructure projects such as roads, dams, bridges, irrigation systems, health infrastructure, renewable-energy projects and ports, particularly in developing-country, post-conflict or emergency settings.
Language Requirements
Candidates must have fluent English and fluent French.
