The African Union (AU) is recruiting a Finance Director for the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The position is a D1 regular appointment reporting to the Director General. The Finance Director will provide strategic leadership for the Finance Directorate, oversee financial operations and help ensure that spending and financial policies align with AU requirements.
Tasks
The Finance Director will be responsible for:
- Developing financial strategies, budgets and targets.
- Leading financial planning, analysis and reporting.
- Managing finance employees and internal controls.
- Overseeing audits, compliance and financial risks.
- Managing the Africa CDC programme budget.
- Supporting the African Epidemic Fund and other special accounts.
- Developing innovative financing solutions.
- Advising senior leadership on financial policies and strategy.
- Ensuring compliance with IPSAS and AU financial rules.
- Preparing financial statements and budget execution reports.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.
Membership in an internationally recognised professional accounting body such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA or Expert Comptable is mandatory.
Experience
Candidates need at least 15 years of relevant experience, including:
- At least 8 years at managerial level.
- At least 5 years in a direct supervisory role.
- Experience leading financial operations, planning and analysis.
- Experience with budgets, forecasts, audits, compliance and risk management.
Additional experience in public health administration, programme management or operations is an advantage.
