This internship is with the Office of Internal Audit and Investigations (OIAI) at UNICEF. Tasks
The main tasks for the Internal Audit Intern include:
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of Business Intelligence (BI) dashboards for the Internal Audit function.
- Working with multiple data sources to locate, access, understand, and analyze information.
- Interpreting data sources and integrating data into the BI platform, including translating MS Excel data into understandable formats.
- Identifying efficient methods for data harvesting and integration for analytical purposes.
- Testing data accuracy and completeness within the BI platform.
- Preparing guidance notes for data compilation and extraction for Audit planning.
- Assisting with the preparation of analytical reports and other relevant outputs.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Current enrollment in a university or an advanced degree program (undergraduate, graduate, or PhD), OR graduation within the past two years.
- Advanced coursework and/or certification in MS Excel or Data Analytics is highly desirable.
Experience
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including managing workbook options, formatting data, creating advanced formulas, and utilizing macros.
- Working knowledge of Power BI or a similar Business Intelligence tool is a strong advantage.
- Coursework or experience scripting in languages like Python or PowerShell is beneficial.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an asset.
- Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills.
Additional Information
This is a 6-month paid internship based at the New York Headquarters, requiring an in-person presence. UNICEF provides a monthly stipend to interns. Candidates are responsible for obtaining their own health/accident insurance coverage for the duration of the internship. There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship. All selected candidates will undergo rigorous background checks as part of UNICEF’s commitment to safeguarding.
