Work from home with the United Nations Development Programme and gain hands-on experience in budgeting, taxation, fiscal policy, and sustainable finance. Ideal for students or recent graduates passionate about the SDGs and global public finance reform.
Background & Job Description
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the leading global organization driving progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through strategic support, inclusive policy design, and transformative partnerships, UNDP helps countries tackle development challenges ranging from poverty and climate change to inequality and public sector reform.
Operating across more than 170 countries and territories, UNDP works at the intersection of governance, development finance, and human rights. The Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH), launched in 2019, serves as UNDP’s key mechanism to connect governments, the private sector, and civil society in accelerating SDG financing at scale.
Within the SFH, the Public Finance for SDGs Initiative empowers national and subnational governments to align public financial systems with the 2030 Agenda. The initiative addresses major public finance barriers, including inefficient spending, inadequate tax systems, and incoherent fiscal frameworks. By embedding principles of transparency, accountability, and equity, the initiative promotes smarter, more inclusive, and climate-conscious public spending.
To support this work, UNDP is offering remote Internship Opportunities for early-career professionals and students who are eager to gain experience in public finance management, fiscal policy, taxation, and sustainable budgeting. These internships contribute to global coordination, technical research, and the implementation of digital tools that modernize public financial systems.
This position is home-based, full-time, and has a duration of three months. It offers a valuable opportunity to join a dynamic international team contributing to real-world change in the way governments allocate and manage resources for sustainable development.
