Background & Job Description
This is an excellent opportunity to advertise a position within the UNICEF Office of Innovation, Innovative Finance Hub. The hub is central to UNICEF’s mission to accelerate financing for the underfunded Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for children. The Innovative Finance Intern will support the team’s work in exploring and leveraging new financial models, such as Child-Lens Investing and new fundraising approaches, to unlock private capital for social impact. The role is offered as a full-time, limited-duration internship, with a remote work option available.

Tasks
The Innovative Finance Intern will typically be required to:
- Conduct primary and secondary research on innovative finance instruments, market trends, and investment models.
- Assist with the drafting of concept notes, presentations, and briefing documents for new financial solutions.
- Provide support for project coordination and knowledge management, including organizing project materials and resource depositories.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Innovative Finance for Children (IF4C) strategy.
- Support communications efforts, including preparing assets for visibility and digital media amplification.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
Candidates should be enrolled in a graduate school program (Master’s or PhD), the final year of an undergraduate program, or have graduated within the last two years. The degree should be in a relevant field such as Finance, Economics, Public Administration, International Relations, or a related Social Science. Fluency in English is generally required.
Experience
While extensive professional experience is not expected, competitive applicants usually possess:
- Demonstrated strong analytical and research skills.
- Familiarity with concepts in sustainable finance, impact investing, or innovative finance for development (IF4D).
- Experience with data management and proficiency in tools like MS Excel or similar data analysis software.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to work flexibly and independently in a remote setting.
- Prior experience in a non-profit, UN, or financial institution is beneficial.
