The Research, Campaigns, and Communication Assistant (RCCA) will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of Amnesty International’s mission in West and Central Africa. This position involves monitoring human rights developments, managing key communication systems, supporting research efforts, and assisting in campaign strategies. The ideal candidate will be someone with a deep understanding of political and human rights issues in the region, coupled with excellent communication and research skills.

This role provides a unique chance to be part of an organization that challenges human rights violations and promotes social justice. The RCCA will be responsible for coordinating various research, advocacy, and communication activities that contribute to Amnesty’s campaigns and public engagement efforts.

Tasks

As a Research, Campaigns, and Communication Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

Research & Monitoring:

  • Conduct research and analyze human rights issues in West and Central Africa.
  • Monitor political and social developments and provide timely updates to the team.
  • Support field research and prepare reports on human rights violations.

Campaign Support:

  • Assist in developing and implementing campaign strategies to promote human rights.
  • Support crisis response efforts and emergency interventions.
  • Develop advocacy materials, social media content, and reports to engage the public.

Communication & Coordination:

  • Maintain and manage internal and external communication systems.
  • Act as a liaison between different teams, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Handle inquiries, information requests, and correspondence related to human rights campaigns.

Logistics & Administration:

  • Provide logistical support for missions, research, and campaign events.
  • Assist in budget preparation and travel coordination.
  • Manage administrative tasks, databases, and documentation for Amnesty International’s projects.

Qualifications

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Human Rights, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in human rights law, advocacy, or campaign management are a plus.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in research, advocacy, and human rights work.
  • Strong knowledge of political and social issues in West and Central Africa.
  • Excellent drafting, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex human rights information.
  • Experience working in communications, advocacy, or campaign development.
  • Prior experience managing office systems, databases, and handling stakeholder communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English and French (Spanish is a plus).
