Tasks

The Technical Associate on Gender and Race will be responsible for a diverse set of tasks centered around planning, executing, and monitoring the implementation of the Gender Equality Seal within the Federal Public Defender’s Office. The role requires strategic thinking, technical insight, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Assist in planning and carrying out activities related to the Gender Equality Seal, in alignment with DPU’s internal goals and the broader SDG 2030 Agenda.

2. Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Track the progress of Seal implementation using performance indicators, progress reports, and continuous feedback from stakeholders.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of strategies in achieving gender and racial equality within DPU.

3. Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that all technical products developed under the Seal are of high quality and aligned with UNDP standards and DPU needs.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

To qualify for this opportunity, candidates must meet the following academic criteria:

  • Mandatory: Completion of secondary education (high school diploma).

  • Preferred: A university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in fields such as Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Sociology, Law, Public Policy, or other Humanities-related disciplines is highly desirable and will be prioritized.

Additional academic qualifications that strengthen candidacy include:

  • Postgraduate studies such as Lato Sensu or Stricto Sensu programs (including Master’s and Ph.D.) in Gender Studies, Law, Sociology, Human Rights, or related fields.

  • Formal training or certification in intersectional approaches, diversity management, or public policy development focused on equality.


Experience

Experience is a vital part of this role. Depending on educational background, the minimum professional experience required varies:

  • With only a high school diploma: Minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional experience in gender, race, intersectionality, or human rights advocacy projects.

  • With a university degree: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in implementing gender or race equality programs, preferably within the justice system or public institutions.

Other desired experience includes:

  • Previous involvement in international development or intergovernmental organizations, particularly in Brazil.

  • Experience working on gender mainstreaming or racial justice within public administration, legal institutions, or civil society organizations.

  • Experience analyzing indicators, metrics, or performance data related to gender and diversity policies.

  • Familiarity with the operational procedures and governance frameworks of multilateral projects.

  • Proven ability to engage stakeholders, manage timelines, and adapt to complex institutional environments.


Additional Information

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for all candidates.

Work Arrangement

  • The position is home-based, allowing for flexibility in work location while maintaining regular communication with both national and international teams.
