Background & Job Description

UNDP has been a close partner of Bangladesh since 1972, promoting democratic governance, climate adaptation, and inclusive growth. This Project Assistant role will support three key initiatives: Livelihoods Improvement of Urban Poor Communities Project (LIUPCP), the CIDCA-funded Livelihoods Support for Urban Poor Communities, and the CARA-funded Next-Generation Urban Resilience. These projects focus on strengthening economic resilience, enhancing health status, and embedding Locally Led Adaptation (LLA) and Nature-based Solutions (NbS) into urban governance. The Assistant will ensure all program activities, outcomes, and lessons learned are systematically documented and professionally reported to key stakeholders and donors.

Tasks

The incumbent will perform duties centered on quality assurance, knowledge management, and reporting:

I. Documentation Support

  • Knowledge Management: Collect and maintain a centralized dataset of project documents, case studies, training materials, and knowledge products.
  • Dissemination: Support the development of knowledge products and assist in organizing knowledge-sharing events and workshops.
  • Quality Assurance: Provide support for quality assurance on formatting, consistency, and branding of all project documentation, and ensure systematic documentation of best practices and lessons learned.

II. Reporting Support

  • Report Drafting: Provide support to draft, edit, and finalize all types of project reports, including monitoring reports, donor reports, thematic briefs, and presentations in line with UNDP standards.
  • Coordination: Maintain reporting schedules and coordinate with technical leads and field teams to gather relevant data and narratives for reporting.
  • M&E Support: Assist in developing a Monitoring & Evaluation Strategy and relevant guidelines for tracking project achievements (e.g., logframe indicators, risk matrix).

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Essential: Secondary education is required.
  • Desirable: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Urban and Regional Planning, Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Essential: Minimum 5 years of experience (with Secondary education) or 2 years of experience (with Bachelor’s degree) in reporting, documentation, and knowledge management in development intervention.
  • Required Skills: 1 year of proven experience in reporting and documentation in an urban programme. Experience in preparing high-quality reports and PowerPoint presentations is required.
  • Desired Skills: Proven experience in short surveys and rapid assessments using tools like Kobo Toolbox, Google Survey, or experience in using GIS software.

Language

  • Essential: Fluency in written and spoken English and Bangla is required.

Additional Information

This is a Short-Term National Personnel Service Agreement (NPSA-5) for an initial period of 6 months, based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The role requires local expertise and a high degree of proficiency in both English and Bangla. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and documentation skills and the ability to manage large, complex datasets. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with urban programs and international development organizations.
