About the ITU Gender Champions Programme

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Gender Champions Programme is designed to recognize and support emerging young women leaders advancing digital transformation and digital inclusion.

The programme provides opportunities for young women changemakers to strengthen their leadership, amplify their impact and connect with experts, policymakers and innovators around the world.

The inaugural cohort will support up to four outstanding young women leaders aged 18–25.

What Selected Gender Champions Receive

Selected participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in the AI for Good Global Summit 2027 in Geneva, Switzerland.
  • Connect with a global network of experts, policymakers and innovators.
  • Strengthen their leadership and digital-impact work.
  • Potentially receive support to implement or strengthen a community-level project.

The project support is subject to sufficient available funding and should advance women’s and girls’ digital inclusion, access, skills, or empowerment.

The programme is looking for young women using technology to create positive change in their communities, countries or regions.
