UN Global Compact Business & Human Rights Accelerator 2027 is a three-month programme helping companies identify human rights and labour rights risks, develop practical action plans and strengthen due diligence.

Programme Overview

The UN Global Compact Business & Human Rights Accelerator is a three-month programme designed to help companies turn their commitments to human rights and labour rights into practical action.

Participants learn how to assess their value chains, identify and prioritize significant human rights and labour rights risks, and develop actions aligned with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

What Participants Will Gain

By completing the Accelerator, participating companies are expected to develop a practical Action Plan. The programme also provides:

  • A clearer understanding of human rights responsibilities
  • Prioritized risks across the value chain
  • Guidance on human rights due diligence
  • Stakeholder engagement and remedy approaches
  • Peer, UN partner and expert networks
  • A certificate of completion

Programme Activities

The Accelerator includes online learning, global virtual workshops, local sessions and regional peer-learning activities.

Participants will assess their value chains, identify risks, develop actions and metrics, engage affected stakeholders and work toward completing their company’s Action Plan.

Who Can Participate?

Participating companies must be UN Global Compact participants or be willing to join. They should also be engaged with a Global Compact Country Network or willing to join, commit to identifying human rights risks and developing an Action Plan, and appoint two working-level representatives plus an executive-level representative.

Tracks and Countries

The programme offers in-country, regional and global tracks. Regional options include Africa, Asia and Latin America, while a global English-language track is available where a Country Network does not run the Accelerator.

South Africa is among the countries listed as offering an in-country track.
