The Visual Design Intern will join the Digital Communications Studio (DCS) under the Advocacy, Marketing and Communications Group (AMCG) of UNDP. DCS is the creative visual branch that ensures consistency and quality in branding across digital platforms. The selected intern will support the team in creating visually engaging content including GIFs, infographics, illustrations, and animated materials for UNDP campaigns, social media channels, and microsites.
Location: Remote (New York-based team)
Duration: 3 months (Fall 2025 cycle)

Tasks
The Visual Design Intern will work closely with the DCS Visual Designer and communication teams to:
1. Content Creation
- Design static and animated graphics such as infographics, carousels, collages, and short GIFs.
- Create visuals aligned with UNDP’s Digital Strategy and campaign objectives.
- Design assets for web-based features, microsites, and homepage content.
2. Campaign Development
- Contribute to brainstorming and ideation for communication campaigns.
- Support the conceptualization of promotional material.
3. Animation & Illustration
- Illustrate and animate digital assets using Adobe CC Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects).
- Edit and prepare assets using Media Encoder for smooth publishing.
4. Innovation & Testing
- Explore and test new visual methods to enhance audience engagement.
- Contribute innovative design ideas that align with current digital trends.
5. Other Duties
- Support other communications-related duties as assigned by the DCS Visual Designer.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
Applicants must meet one of the following educational requirements:
- Be enrolled in a graduate degree program (Master’s level or higher),
- Be in the final academic year of a first university degree (Bachelor’s level),
- Have graduated within one year prior to the start of the internship.
Fields of study may include:
- Graphic Design
- Visual Communication
- Multimedia Arts
- Digital Media
- Communications
- Related fields in Design and Media Production
Experience
- No prior work experience is required.
- However, proven experience in multimedia design for social media and the web is preferred.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Media Encoder) is essential.
- Proficiency in Figma is a strong asset.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality visuals under pressure.
Languages
- Full fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
- Knowledge of French or Spanish is considered desirable.

Additional Information
Internship Conditions
- This is a remote internship.
- UNDP does not pay for the internship but provides a monthly stipend according to its internship policy.
- Interns are expected to arrange their own medical insurance and provide a medical certificate of good health before starting.
- There is no expectation of employment at the end of the internship.
