As part of the internship, the successful candidate will contribute to communications design and planning, research endeavors, and coordination efforts across various AGILE team activities.

Primary Responsibilities of the Intern

The AGILE Intern, under the guidance of the Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) and Global Innovation Lead (GIL), will play a pivotal role in supporting various facets of the AGILE initiative. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Communication Development and Strategy: Collaborating with the CIO, GIL, and Public Engagement (PE) division, the intern will contribute to developing AGILE’s communication strategy. This involves designing a dedicated webpage on Oxfam’s website, enhancing AGILE’s presence on social media platforms, drafting quarterly newsletters highlighting AGILE’s activities, and crafting compelling narratives for the lab.
  2. Research Support: Staying informed about the latest trends and key players in social innovation, the intern will assist in conducting research to identify potential partners and advisors for AGILE.
  3. Digital Presence Maintenance: Regularly updating AGILE’s webpage on Oxfam’s website and managing its presence on social media platforms to ensure timely and relevant content delivery.
  4. Content Development: Supporting the creation of presentations, newsletters, and other communication materials for both internal and external purposes.
  5. Internal Planning and Coordination: Assisting in streamlining AGILE’s internal processes, facilitating knowledge management, and supporting team coordination efforts.
  6. Additional Tasks: Undertaking any other tasks as assigned by the CIO and GIL to advance AGILE’s strategic objectives.

Expectations for the Position

The internship position is expected to involve approximately 20 to 35 hours per week, providing a flexible schedule conducive to academic pursuits. The intern will be required to adhere to Oxfam’s work procedures and guidelines, fostering a multicultural environment characterized by dignity and respect for all individuals. Furthermore, the intern should demonstrate a commitment to Oxfam America’s mission, feminist principles, and safeguarding policies.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates for the AGILE Internship should be current students pursuing higher education degrees or recent graduates in fields such as public relations, media, communications, innovation, international relations, public policy, environmental science, social sciences (including urban/rural development, business management, economics, sociology), feminist or gender studies, or related disciplines. Additionally, candidates should possess a passion for social impact, innovation, and human-centered storytelling. While experience in communications, branding, or media for social impact is advantageous, candidates should demonstrate the ability to compel audiences to take action. Proficiency in conducting desk research and engaging constructively with stakeholders to advance strategic agendas is also desirable.
