UNDP Internship Opportunity: Sustainable Finance Data Analyst, Remote

The UNDP Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH) mobilizes public and private capital for SDGs, driving systemic change towards a sustainable financial architecture benefiting people and the planet.

Role Overview: UNDP seeks interns to support G20 Technical Assistance Action Plan (TAAP) implementation and other G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG) duties. The intern will collect, analyze, and present qualitative and quantitative data from various online sources to inform TAAP implementation and other G20-related engagements.

Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Sustainable Finance Policy Specialist, the intern will:

  • Develop data collection strategies, including web scraping and API integration.
  • Clean, preprocess, and organize collected data.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and validate collected data.
  • Create visualizations, dashboards, and reports.
  • Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in or graduated from a relevant graduate program.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with web scraping tools and libraries.
  • Familiarity with data cleaning and database management.
  • Knowledge of JSON, CSV, and XML data formats.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Familiarity with sustainable finance concepts and frameworks preferred.

Role Overview: UNDP seeks interns to support the implementation of the G20 Technical Assistance Action Plan (TAAP) and other G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG) duties. The intern will conduct research, collect and analyze data, and assist in report preparation.

Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Sustainable Finance Policy Specialist, the intern will:

  • Research and identify capacity-building providers on sustainable finance topics.
  • Develop a tagging system for a comprehensive database of these initiatives.
  • Analyze mapping results to identify opportunities for scaling up sustainable finance.
  • Develop research content showcasing knowledge of sustainable finance policies within G20 countries.
  • Contribute to report, presentation, and communication material development.
  • Draft and edit various materials including blog posts, presentations, and supporting documents.
  • Support stakeholder engagement efforts by liaising with capacity-building providers and other stakeholders.

Competencies: Functional Competencies:

  • Strong writing and editing skills in English.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Knowledge of finance or sustainable finance is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with sustainable finance concepts and initiatives preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with proficiency in gathering, organizing, and synthesizing information. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
