Applications are now open for the Kenneth Myer Innovation Fellowships 2027, an exciting opportunity for innovative Australian changemakers working to solve some of the country’s most pressing social and environmental challenges. The Fellowship provides up to AUD 180,000 over 12 months, enabling selected Fellows to dedicate their time to advancing breakthrough initiatives with the potential for significant long-term impact.
Administered by The Myer Foundation and Sidney Myer Fund, the Fellowship supports experienced leaders whose projects align with the themes of inclusion and equality, sustainability and environment (including climate change), or human, civil, and legal rights.
About the Kenneth Myer Innovation Fellowships
The Fellowship is designed to provide recipients with the financial support, dedicated time, mentoring, and expert guidance needed to scale innovative projects already showing strong potential for positive societal impact.
Rather than funding early-stage ideas, the programme focuses on initiatives that are already underway and have demonstrated promise for creating lasting change.
Fellowship Benefits
Each selected Fellow will receive funding of up to AUD 180,000, including:

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Reside in Australia for most of the Fellowship period
- Be prepared to take a 12-month sabbatical from their current role
- Have a proven record of achievement
- Demonstrate innovative thinking and the ability to turn ideas into action
- Have well-developed networks related to their proposed project
The proposed project must:
- Be based in Australia
- Align with one or more Fellowship themes
- Have been in development for no longer than three years
Projects Not Eligible
The Fellowship does not support:
- Academic or medical research
- International projects
- Scholarships
- Sponsorships
- Creative arts projects
- Projects older than three years
- Education curriculum development
- Funding hubs or accelerators
- Projects focused solely on service delivery
- Applications submitted by organizations instead of individuals

Expectations During the Fellowship
Selected Fellows receive funding to focus entirely on advancing their projects. While there are no fixed performance indicators, Fellows are expected to deliver mid-term and final presentations outlining their progress and learning.
