Applications are now open for the 2027 Kenneth Myer Innovation Fellowships, a prestigious Australian fellowship supporting individuals developing breakthrough solutions to some of Australia’s most pressing social and environmental challenges. Each Fellowship provides up to AUD 180,000 over 12 months, allowing Fellows to dedicate their time to advancing innovative projects with the potential for lasting impact.
The Fellowship supports initiatives aligned with one or more of the following themes:

Fellowship Benefits
Each selected Fellow receives:
- Up to AUD 180,000 in funding
- AUD 140,000 stipend to support a 12-month sabbatical
- Up to AUD 40,000 for approved project expenses such as travel, workspace, and specialist expertise
- Access to experienced mentors
- Quarterly meetings with an expert advisory panel
- Membership in the Kenneth Myer Innovation Fellows alumni network
- Dedicated support to help scale and strengthen the impact of their project

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Reside in Australia for most of the Fellowship period
- Be willing to take a 12-month sabbatical from their current role
- Have a demonstrated track record of achievement
- Be pursuing innovative, action-oriented ideas with strong potential for impact
- Have well-developed networks relevant to their proposed project
The proposed project must:
- Be based in Australia
- Align with one or more Fellowship themes
- Have been in development for no longer than three years
Funding Exclusions
The Fellowship does not support:
- Projects developed for more than three years
- Academic or medical research
- International projects
- Scholarships
- Sponsorships
- Creative arts projects
- Funding hubs or accelerators
- Organisation-led initiatives
- Curriculum-based education projects
- Standard service delivery programmes lacking an innovative and scalable focus
Fellowship Expectations
During the Fellowship, recipients are expected to:
- Focus full-time on advancing their existing project
- Deliver a mid-term presentation
- Deliver a final presentation summarizing their progress
The Fellowship is intentionally flexible and is not tied to fixed performance indicators, allowing Fellows to explore and strengthen their ideas.
